Nau mai Haere mai, Welcome to Massage Therapy, Auckland’s most professional & premier contemporary Maori mirimiri service.

Kia Ora, my name is Allan Heta Cleaver, I am of Maori and English decent. I have 14 years massage experience and have a Diploma in Massage Therapy from the Canterbury College of Natural Medicine in Christchurch. I have practised in both Medical and Osteopathic Centres as well as my own private practices in Christchurch, Whangarei, Nelson and now Auckland.

My contemporary Maori mirimiri (traditional holistic healing massage technique of the Maori, the indigenous people of Aotearoa / New Zealand) combines aspects of both traditional and modern worlds. My unique massage style is a fusion of  Maori mirimiri, sports, deep tissue, trigger point, pre / post natal and stress reduction techniques. It starts and finishes with Karakia (traditional prayer/intent) and acknowledgement of the Ancestors. I mirimiri to the sound of Maori instruments and chants / world / contemporary / classical music or silence, dependant on your personal taste. A hot clay pack wrapped in a towel is applied during the mirimiri. Although mirimiri is applied directly to the body, it may also have profound effect on the mind and spirit.

Mirimiri encourages nutrition and development of the muscular system by stimulating its circulation, nerve supply and cellular activity. Skillfully applied mirimiri is an effective means of influencing the structures and functions of the body. Mirimiri helps release chronic patterns of tension in the body, encouraging the body and mind to release tension and stress.

Experts estimate that 80 percent to 90 percent of disease is stress-related. The physical changes mirimiri brings to your body can have a positive effect in many areas of your life. Besides increasing relaxation and decreasing anxiety, mirimiri lowers your blood pressure, increases circulation, improves recovery from injury, helps you to sleep better and can increase your concentration. It reduces fatigue and gives you more energy to handle stressful situations.

The mirimiri concludes with an invitation to select a card. Wisdom of the Four Winds cards are not predictive, they merely allow us to pause and look at our situation with the help of the kaitiaki or guide who arrives by chance, through the blind pulling of a card.

Everything and everyone has a spiritual home. In the Maori world of Polynesia it is known as our Tu-ranga-wae-wae, ‘the place where we stand tall.’ That ‘sanctuary’ may or may not be our birthplace, as its power is of many realms. Wisdom of the Four Winds has its spiritual home in Aotearoa New Zealand, a unique gift to the world.
