Massage Therapy

Encourages nutrition and development of the muscular system by stimulating its circulation, nerve supply and cellular activity. Skillfully applied massage is a very effective means of influencing the structures and functions of the body.

Deep tissue / trigger point therapy

A specific approach to treat chronic and acute pain using neuromuscular techniques and trigger point therapy. Deep tissue massage releases chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted areas, either following or going across the grains of muscles, tendons and fascia.

Sports

Sports massage is a form of massage which is growing in popularity. It is used by athletes, both professional and amateur, as well as many non-sporting individuals due to its many benefits.
A regular sports massage can help prevent injury by improving the condition of the muscles. A good massage therapist can identify muscle tightness, trigger points and scar tissue which if left untreated may lead to injury.
Sports massage can be used in the treatment of specific injuries, such as hamstring strains, as well as to help correct muscle imbalances, overuse and postural issues. It is these issues which should be corrected in order to prevent future injuries and improve the efficiency of our muscles and so enhance our performance.

Stress reduction

A remedial swedish massage which encourages the body and mind to release tension and stress.
Experts estimate that 80 percent to 90 percent of disease is stress-related. The physical changes massage brings to your body can have a positive effect in many areas of your life. Besides increasing relaxation and decreasing anxiety, massage lowers your blood pressure, increases circulation, improves recovery from injury, helps you to sleep better and can increase your concentration. It reduces fatigue and gives you more energy to handle stressful situations.

Foot Joint Mobilisation

Foot Joint Mobilisation encourages the bones of the foot back into alignment, this takes pressure off the feet and corrects the structural imbalances of the body.
When upright the body is reliant on the feet for balance and stability. If any of the bones of the feet are incorrectly aligned, the whole body may be affected.
Foot Joint Mobilisation is a fully clothed modality; you only need to take off your shoes and socks. For best long term results I recommend that you commit to two sessions per week for a period of eight consecutive weeks. This allows your muscles to be re-educated to support your structure in its more natural state.

Mirimiri Maori Massage

Mirimiri is a traditional holistic healing massage technique of the Maori, the indigenous people of Aotearoa / New Zealand.  Mirimiri encompasses whanau ora (family health), tinana ora (physical health), hinengaro ora (mental health) and wairua ora (spiritual health). Each Mirimiri starts and finishes with Karakia (traditional prayer/ intent), acknowledgment of the Ancestors. Mirimiri  uses warm oil to the sound of traditional Maori instruments and chants. The Mirimiri concludes with an invitation to select from the Wisdom Cards / Ancient Knowledge.
